MESSAGE FROM CHIEF CONSTABLE RICHARD LEWIS

Richard Lewis photo 2.jpg

I want to invite you to consider an exciting opportunity working at Cleveland Police as our Deputy Chief Constable (DCC). You will be a dynamic, self-aware leader who can bring diversity of thought and an analytical approach to the operational and leadership challenges we face. As part of the Chief Officer Team, you will be responsible for the performance of the Force, delivering outcomes in a manner that reflects a modern culture of performance delivery, where numbers are indicators and the real focus is on quality of service.

I am determined to grow Cleveland Police in a way that sees greater value on leadership, empowerment, and autonomy. I am looking for leaders who create leaders.

I believe that Cleveland Police is a rapidly changing Force. I am looking for someone who will enjoy the unique challenges which offer something different from the norm, such as:

• We are focused on delivering excellent local policing to diverse, but geographically compact communities;

• Our collaboration opportunities are broad and include exciting work with other public sector partners;

• We have strong and established collaborative partnerships with local forces, the private and third sector, which provides opportunities for personal and organisational development.

I am passionate about policing here in Cleveland. I want our Deputy Chief Constable to demonstrate the same level of passion in delivering the best possible policing to the communities we serve. I am seeking someone who will operate with integrity, passion and commitment and truly bring the Code of Ethics to life.

If you want to work with us to deliver the best policing to the communities served by Cleveland Police, through a genuinely committed and motivated workforce, please put yourself forward for this challenging and rewarding role.

OUR VISION, VALUES AND BEHAVIOURS

Cleveland Police’s Values and Behaviours are the same as the College of Policing’s Competency and Values Framework (CVF). The CVF  aims to support all policing professionals, now and into the future.

It sets out nationally recognised behaviours and values, which will provide a consistent foundation for a range of local and national processes. This framework will ensure that there are clear expectations of everyone working in policing which in turn will lead to standards being raised for the benefit and safety of the public.

OUR STRATEGIES

CLIENTS

OUR COMMISSIONER

The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is to be

the voice of the people and hold the police to account.  They are

responsible for the totality of policing.

PCCs aim to cut crime and deliver an effective and efficient police

service within their area.

They have been elected by the public to hold Chief Constables and

the force to account, effectively making the police answerable to the

communities they serve.

PCCs ensure community needs are met as effectively as possible, and are improving local relationships through building confidence and restoring trust. They work in partnership across a range of agencies at local and national level to ensure there is a unified approach to preventing and reducing crime.

Cleveland’s Police and Crime Commissioner is supported by a team of people within the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. This team works to ensure the Force is run efficiently and effectively through robust scrutiny processes and manages programmes which reduce offending, support victims and keep Cleveland’s communities safer, in line with the Police and Crime Plan.
